Once Again, Peace Day

General News

This post is to honor all the patriots marching and gathering for rallies today, once again, to end the U.S. Occupation of Iraq. Like always, you will see little coverage of the protests on da teevee. Thank you C-Span, which is broadcasting live the Washington DC rally organized by United For Peace And Justice…I’m listening now to Maxine Waters speak and before her John Conyers and next will be Rocky Anderson…and there are similar rallies and marches around the country.
Kayinmaine will be marching in Portland, Maine. You can see the signs she made here.
Many songs of protest have been produced in these dark times, but for me the most profoundly moving one is by Robert Cray titled Twenty. If you can’t get to a rally today, give a listen to this video and be reminded of why the fight must continue.

OUT OF IRAQ NOW!

If your hope is ebbing, read this post by thepoetryman and be encouraged.

The song, Twenty…whew, I can’t get through it without crying. And if you don’t watch the whole vid, you miss its heartbreak: a dead soldier searching for his own empty boots.
    Goddamn this rich man’s war!

Thanks Ms. Mirth for posting my pictures from today’s march. It was so much fun! We Americans are the only ones who can save the republic from ‘those people’ in the White House. ;-)

I had to work today so I couldn’t participate like I did in the sixties and seventies. I also have to admit a certain amount of trepidation about going to one of these things nowadays. The evil bushcorp and cheney storm troopers are getting desperate and will stop at nothing including treason and kidnapping, torture and mass murder. They are building prison camps across the country. They are like satan in that they thrive on terror and hatred and agony. I try to contain my activities to the radio and blogs. It’s still risky business, but it’s very public and I somehow feel safer.I hope the politicians start paying attention faster than they did back then, it took them the better part of a decade to FINALLY react.

Frank, there is a lot of nervousness in this country about attending these marches because they don’t trust the Bush White House from harming them all. I can see their point because I don’t trust the bastards either, but I do love my country more than they and will continue to speak out against these evil ones. Hey, besides, if they kill a bunch of us, what will that do to the American people? We are a well armed country and I have this sneaking suspicion people would rise up against them…again.

We can’t be afraid. Like Molly Ivins always said about taking back our country….have fun and raise hell!! LOL We have to! We have to keep the pressure on. Like I’ve said online many times, the White House will make a martyr out of me if they hurt me when protesting. This is a concept they haven’t quite understood yet and that’s why they keep killing people in Iraq because they have no idea what the backlash is. They never think about it. Everytime they kill someone and angel gets his/her wings (or something like that LOL). People in my life aren’t going to be very happy if I’m killed while standing up for my country. See what I mean? I’m not afraid of them at all. The White House can suck eggs.
