Last year during breeding season for migrating mallards, a comical and surprising scene played out near my house. The males had paired with the females and everything seemed to be on track for an impending parade of fuzzy baby ducks. Even when the flock were all together they remained paired, with the exception of a few extra males I assumed were slow in choosing and they roamed around looking for action. Now mind you, I was watching all of this through binoculars and I may have missed a few details, but one thing became very clear: these single boys were looking for boys. With their necks stretched forward and their bills low to the ground, making their heads like a battering ram, the bachelors repeatedly chased a female away and then settled next to her mate. In the two pairs I focused on, this drama played out for days. The mated males didn’t fight with the intruding male; both waited each time for the dust to settled and then ambled over to sit by their girl. Eventually one male/female pair took off away from my view, so I lost track of them. However, the other mated male…well, the last time the flustered female was chased away he didn’t go to her. He stayed sitting with the boy and those two guy ducks became a couple and they remained paired in a convivial relationship with the flock.

It’s obvious that General Peter Pace doesn’t see homosexuality as part of a natural order of things. That he equates homosexuality to adultery is teeth grinding enough, but that he continued to say the US military does not condone immoral acts is enough to send us over the edge. (Yeah trolls, we Liberals are pissed!) Pace has also said about the leadership of Donald Rumsfeld, “He leads in a way that the good Lord tells him is best for our country.” Following a Pentagon forced admission to the use of white phosphorus in Fallujah in 2004, which burns at 3000 degrees and explodes in flaming balls that cling to anything they touch and burn until their oxygen supply is cut off and can burn for hours inside a human body, Pace said “A bullet goes through skin even faster than white phosphorus does,” which was intended, I guess, to say “shake and bake†is no more deadly than a bullet. To this man who confuses private and public, secular and religious, who should not hold any position of authority in our government and who rightly should be dragged in chains from the Pentagon, who is missing components of human decency…Shut Up! For inserting his fundy personal opinion which opposes established military policy, that being Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (which is itself an abomination and another reason I’m not an admirer of Bill Clinton), he should be fired.

Now the Rev Mohler, Jr, on the other hand, will almost admit to the naturalness of homosexuality, but suggests that unborn babies suspected (wha?) of being homosexual could simply be shot full of hormones to straighten them out. Scroll down and read his article Is Your Baby Gay here.

I loved your story about the ducks. My son and I years ago rented an apartment on a dairy farm here in Maine (the landscape was so beautiful! Double-rainbows all the time could be seen) and the one thing I noticed about all the female cows is that when in the pasture, they would get horny and hump each other. LOL Wow, who knew female bovines are lesbians! Love it.

I have read some about this fundy control of our military and the article you site lays it right on the line. I hope everyone reads it, because this mostly is under our radar and it must be brought to light. We must address the pervasiveness of religion, ALL religion, in the public aspects of our society and for the issues surrounding xian religion and our sexual selves we should look to the GLBT community for education and direction.

On Pace, speaking as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, he violated the establishment clause of the First Amendment. He has a right to his own view, based on his religious piety code, but not to express it in his official capacity.
On Hillary, she backed off that position in a hurry, but in my opinion, she was pandering. Nevertheless, is she gets the nomination, I will vote for her, only because whoever the GOP puts up will be worse.

Einstein, to my knowledge, made only one reference to God: “God doesn’t play dice” in response to a question dealing
with events at the micro-physical level occurring by pure chance without any causes whatsoever. I don’t know if that constitutes a firm declaration of faith or not. Stephen Hawking, another quantum physicist, countered with “God does play dice” in a further reference to Einstein’s theory, but stopped short of declaring any true faith in God.
At any rate, I do know for a fact that the Bush clan are confirmed Pagans, and despite any remarks Dork-bya may have made about his Christianity, like you, his actions belay those remarks.

Whatever happened to cause the deletes of Clif’s comments was a glitch of some sort. He is due an apology and Frank is the man I think he is by offering a sincere one.
I don’t like comment deletes. While I accept a siteowner’s prerogative to do anything they want with their blogs and agree that sometimes deletes are necessary, I also think that censorship by deleting is becoming way too common on many blogs. They are usually administered unequally and and to reflect a siteowner’s mood for that day.
That said…
Busboy, as far as I am concerned, the subject of abortion is off-limits to you here at ETR. It was brought to my attention that there was a strange disappearance of comments here.
Contrary to the speculation flying around here, what apparently happened was that Clif must have posted one comment and then turned right around and posted a second and a third within a short period of time.
The Spam Filter sensed that this might have been a “spam comment” and refused to allow the comment through. Clif then tried posting again and the filter decided that anything Clif had posted previously had to be spam also — and removed it.
To prevent this from happening again, you must wait a minimum of three minutes before you post another comment, otherwise your comment will be tagged as spam.
There is a rational reason why the filter does this. Spam comments aren’t manually posted by some pimply-faced kid in a basement somewhere, they are posted by a computer that broadcasts literally thousands of comments an hour to a targetted set of websites — usually four or five comments to each site at a time. The filter is designed to see those incoming comments and if it determines that they are all coming from the same source, it will shut the door on them.
Another part of the filter looks for certain key words. Use those words and the filter will lock you out. Continue to try, and it will do a “retro-spank” for all of your previous posts.

I know that you were playing a mind game on Clif when you said in comment #40 that you had some kind of “retro cookie worm†and that you deleted Clif’s posts.
Since I wasn’t born yesterday, I know that claim is full of shit.
But joking or not, as a webmaster I do not see the humor in someone making that kind of claim.
This is a semi-public forum where you are allowed to state your opinion whether you agree with someone or not. You have the right to choose whether to make cogent arguments to support your world view or make a clown out of yourself — as long as you don’t become disruptive or make threats of destroying MY property.
The views stated here might be those of the people who post them here, but once they are posted here they become part of MY property. You are here at my pleasure and permission and can easily be sent packing without warning.
So please, watch what you say about messing with the site itself. You might only be kidding, but when it comes to messing with one of my websites — I don’t kid.
